A little while back, I asked friends to send me questions relating to science. Not Mr. Science "Why is the sky blue?" questions, but core concerns, confusions, and honest queries regarding the workings and contributions of science.
Even the small number of responses I received has revealed what I suspected: Far from simply wanting to know how a virus makes you sick, people want to know the basics.
What do scientists do? Why do they do it? What does it mean?
Here's my attempt to answer them, as best I can.
I'm also well aware that there is no built-in audience for this. It's not detailed enough for scientists, and, because it's science, it's not going to get people walking in off the street.
Or is it? I really don't know.
But, it's what I want to write, so...
Also... what I would LOVE is for people to question or discuss the things about which I write by using the comments.
I want to know how other people feel or think about this stuff.
Confused? Definitely tell me if you're confused. I want it to make sense, and I need practice and advice.
On that note, if you have knowledge of anything about which I write, especially if you have a science background - please, please, please feel free to correct and suggest.
Anyways, here it is. We'll see where it goes.
